Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel is a majestic complex of two massive rock-cut temples in southern Egypt, near the border with Sudan. Carved into the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II, these iconic monuments were famously relocated in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
