+An **Accretion Disc** is a swirling structure of gas and dust orbiting a central celestial object, often a [Black Hole](/wiki/Black_Hole) or [Star](/wiki/Star). Gravity draws material inwards, compressing and heating it to extreme temperatures, releasing vast amounts of energy as it spirals closer. These luminous discs are fundamental to understanding how many cosmic bodies grow and shine.
