+Aid climbing is a form of [Climbing](/wiki/climbing) where artificial aids are used to ascend. Unlike [Free Climbing](/wiki/free_climbing), where gear only offers safety, aid climbers pull on or stand on equipment placed in the rock. This method allows passage through otherwise impossible terrain.
