Biofilm

A biofilm is a collective of microorganisms where cells adhere to each other on a surface, often embedded within a self-produced extracellular polymeric substance. These complex, resilient structures are ubiquitous in nature, from river stones to living tissues, playing roles in infection and environmental processes.
