+Capillary action describes the ability of a liquid to flow in narrow spaces without the assistance of, or even in opposition to, [Gravity](/wiki/gravity). This movement is driven by the interplay of intermolecular forces, including [Adhesion](/wiki/adhesion) between the liquid and the solid surface, and [Cohesion](/wiki/cohesion) within the liquid itself, amplified by [Surface Tension](/wiki/surface_tension).
