The Corps of Discovery was a U.S. Army expedition, commissioned by Thomas Jefferson, to explore the new lands of the Louisiana Purchase. Led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the journey charted the American West, forging a path to the Pacific Ocean from 1804 to 1806.
