DTMF, or Dual-tone multi-frequency signaling, is the sound language of touch-tone telephones. It uses specific pairs of audio frequencies to represent numbers and symbols pressed on a Telephone keypad. This distinct musical "beep" is how your phone communicates, replacing older Dial Tone pulses.
