Fourth Crusade

The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204) was a Crusade by Western European armies, originally aimed at the Holy Land. Diverting from its course, crusaders instead besieged and sacked Constantinople, the Byzantine Empire's capital, in 1204. This act gravely weakened Byzantium and established the Latin Empire.
