+An **infarct** is an area of [tissue death](/wiki/Tissue_death) caused by a sudden lack of blood supply. This critical deprivation of oxygen, often due to a [blood clot](/wiki/Blood_clot) or blockage, leads to cell demise and impaired organ function.
