+Irish (Gaeilge) is a [Goidelic](/wiki/Goidelic) Celtic language native to the island of [Ireland](/wiki/Ireland), and one of its official languages. Though historically dominant, it is now primarily spoken in areas known as the Gaeltacht, with ongoing efforts for revitalization.
