+Marginal utility is the additional satisfaction or "want" a person gains from consuming one more unit of a good or service. This added pleasure often diminishes with each successive unit, a concept central to [Diminishing Returns](/wiki/diminishing_returns) and fundamental to understanding [Consumer Choice](/wiki/consumer_choice). It helps explain why we value the first bite more than the tenth.
