Richard D'Oyly Carte (1844–1901) was an English theatrical impresario, best known for commissioning and promoting the comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan. He built the iconic Savoy Theatre in London, a modern marvel for its time, and founded the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company to perform these works.
