+A **tone poem**, or symphonic poem, is a single-movement piece of [Orchestral Music](/wiki/orchestral_music) that aims to tell a story, describe a scene, or evoke a mood through sound. As a form of [Program Music](/wiki/program_music), it uses the orchestra to paint vivid, non-verbal narratives, popular during the Romantic era.
