"Were" is a Game developed by Scratchtrobin. It is notable as the first game by Scratchtrobin to feature Teasers. The game is designed to be available only during a Full Moon, a strategy consistently applied to all its planned and actual Release Dates.
Teasers
The first Teaser for "Were" was a dark image, available at /uploads/1761897844182-4qbjzpnto06.png. It initially appeared as a black blob but when brightened, it revealed the game's Antagonist eating a body. The image itself also contained hidden text, including "Were this took so long to make" and "dont brighten".
A second Teaser focused on a Release Date delay. An image, available at /uploads/1761898133173-bwsxn073ncs.png, announced "WERE HAS BEEN DELAYED TO OCTOBER 6th". The game experienced multiple delays, initially targeted for August, then September, then October 6th, before finally being delayed to November 5th. This marks a total of four delays. Notably, the final planned dates of October 6th and November 5th both coincided with Full Moon events.
A third Teaser was later released, available at /uploads/1761897917222-aymthmtt1k.png. When brightened, this image reveals Freekmiauw's dialogue: "W-WHAT WAS THAT? S-SOME KIND OF WOLF? S-SOME KIND OF CREATURE?!". It also features the text "WERE" and "COMING SOON", with Freekmiauw depicted running in fear.
A fourth Teaser was released, featuring the game's Graveyard, available at /uploads/1761900574142-iyjeesutnh.png. The image shows a graveyard scene with three gravestones under a full moon, two of which display pictures of cats ("Pukkie" and "Tommie") and one dedicated to "Meindert Ten Bos". Text on the image instructs viewers to "PRESS F" and "PAY RESPECTS". Scratchtrobin later revealed that the gravestones represent his real-life deceased cats and his grandpa. The game's Antagonist can also be seen lurking behind trees in the background. An updated version of this image is available at /uploads/1761900719287-1p1ythj1s5f.png.
A fifth Teaser was released, available at /uploads/1761900937472-z4x0usmlcbk.png. This image depicts Freekmiauw looking scared in a Forest setting. In the foreground, a character lies dead in a pool of blood, while another character holds a sign reading "FREEKMIAUW". In the background, a shadowy figure lurks near a building marked "HOS PITAL" (likely a Hospital), which also features a red cross symbol. The image also contains hidden text, "this is me", associated with the character holding the sign.
Another Teaser was briefly available in a different teaser hub before being quickly pulled in favour of the main hub. The image, available at /uploads/1761906702570-k4jdko010ub.png, shows Freekmiauw running scared through a dark Forest under a Full Moon. A shadowy figure (the Antagonist) with glowing eyes and teeth can be seen lurking behind a tree. Faint red text at the top reads "VELLUWE BE LIKE:" and at the bottom, "BE AFRAID OF WHAT YOU FIND IN THE DARK.".
A Development screenshot of "Were" was reportedly leaked by Scratchtrobin's licensing team because they wanted to get paid, available at /uploads/1761906986542-rmns29wck7r.png. This leak, titled "Day 2 of leaking SR untill we get paid" by "SR-LiceneTeam", showed a Scratch project interface. The image featured a red cross (suggesting a Hospital setting), a character resembling Freekmiauw running, and speech bubbles stating "BEHIND THIS CURTAIN ARE VERY INJURED PPL" and "-FM -CTTR". The associated project notes explicitly stated, "WE ACTUALY LESKED A PIECE OF WERE". Following this leak, Scratchtrobin posted a reaction, stating "i hate you guys", available at /uploads/1761907072729-ylg2ga4d9s.png. Later, Scratchtrobin further commented on the situation, indicating a resolution to the licensing team's demands. An image, available at /uploads/1761907237575-9sp2u90t6m7.png, shows Scratchtrobin proposing "OK HOW ABOUT 1 CENT PER YEAR" and subsequently noting, "guess they accepted they didnt post any more". This follow-up reaction, which came after what was referred to as "Day 3" of the leaks, suggested that no further leaks would occur.
In a related incident, Scratchtrobin's account was seemingly "hacked", leading to the creation of a Scratch Project titled "H4CKER" which revealed several upcoming Games, including "Were". This "hack" project, available at /uploads/1762156592651-l11f0rg31.png, listed "SR Park!", "beta bta?", "WERE", and "SR Fight!" as projects, with instructions stating "hack into STR".
Scratchtrobin also teased the game by changing his profile picture to a major spoiler. The updated profile picture, available at /uploads/1762156405608-dukm0xnqsd.png, shows the game's red wolf Antagonist with a Spear seemingly through its head, matching the imagery from the game's release announcement.
Gameplay
The game begins with the player controlling Freekmiauw, who enters Scratchtrobin's House. Inside, the song "Thriller" plays on a Radio. Upon noticing shattered glass, Freekmiauw jumps out a Window, only to be attacked by the Antagonist (the wolf). The next scene shows Freekmiauw waking up in a Hospital and running out. Outside the hospital, there are two paths: one leading to the Graveyard and another "to SR" (presumably to Scratchtrobin). Taking the path to the right leads Freekmiauw into a different part of the Forest, where the Antagonist (the wolf) is seen eating a body (identified as "Gio" in the game files). Upon seeing Freekmiauw, the wolf runs away, holding a sign that says "FREEKMIAUW". Following the wolf's retreat, Freekmiauw finds himself in Japan, where he discovers that Scratchtrobin also has a House. Upon entering this second house, Freekmiauw confronts the now scared wolf. Grabbing a Spear, Freekmiauw throws it, impaling the wolf through its head.
Debug Mode
A hidden Debug Mode can be accessed by pressing the 'D' key, likely an oversight by Scratchtrobin. An image of this menu, showing options available in the debug mode, is available at /uploads/1765185757362-t7xyjw7wzrq.png. The menu, labelled "debug mode - remove before release", allows players to "trigger ending", switch between Freekmiauw's states (specifically "hostpialize FM" for a Hospital state and "normal fm"), and includes an "amiibo code" option. The presence of an Amiibo menu is notable, as it has not appeared in a Scratchtrobin game for years. The menu contains one code, 67126921, and when the amiibo option is interacted with, it reveals details for an unreleased "wolf" amiibo, specifically stating "Collection: WERE Character: Wolf" as seen in an image at /uploads/1765186169393-p3j81upn3x.png. This code references the meme '67', Scratchtrobin's birth year, the meme '69', and the meme '21'. The debug mode can be closed by pressing Space.
Unused Content
In the game files for "Were", several pieces of content were discovered that did not make it into the final Game. These include a Placeholder Door, identified by its filename "placehold3r". A Daytime image of the Forest was also found. Additionally, an image depicting Scratchtrobin himself, lying in a Hospital Bed with Bandages wrapped around his head, was present in the files; this was reportedly part of a Scrapped Ending according to Scratchtrobin's WhatsApp messages with Freekmiauw. A Dialogue Box for Gio was also found in the files, suggesting he might have had dialogue.
Release
The game's first release occurred on November 5, 2025, with a second release planned for December 4, 2025. Both dates align with Full Moon events. A release image for the game, available at /uploads/1761897673593-cpuubjzdqn.png, states "WERE IS READY FOR RELEASE!!!" and depicts two cartoon characters: a scared green character, identified as Freekmiauw, wearing a hat, and an aggressive red character. The red character is the main Antagonist, a wolf, which appears to be speared through the head by Freekmiauw (the green character).
More teasers
Recently, Scratchtrobin teased a future Birthday Edition of "Were". An image, available at /uploads/1762157574104-ry0coltwtl.png, was shared in the teaser hub, stating that Scratchtrobin "started developement on Were Birthday Edition". It further reveals a target Release Date of "October 4th someday", with a prominent "2047" indicating a long-term plan, to coincide with his Birthday. October 4th, 2047 is confirmed to be a Full Moon, further reinforcing the game's lunar theme. The specific birthday release dates are 2047, 2051, 2070, 2089, and 2093. Scratchtrobin humorously commented on the longevity required for these releases, stating: "2093: my kids: GRANDPA! DONT DIE YET! Me: hold on, i just gotta share wer- dies", available at /uploads/1762158233419-0xtgio7ijd.png.
On December 8th, 2025, a new Teaser was released, available at /uploads/1765184103459-ut0883v7zqi.png. The image depicted a dark cityscape with Freekmiauw running in the foreground and a shadowy figure (the FNF Boyfriend character) partially obscured by a building. Visible text on the image included "IMA END IT HERE SORRY" and "YOU ALREADY GOT EXTRA CONTENT", with a small Japanese text "スクラッチロビン" also present. While initially thought to be related to the Birthday Edition due to its unique ending text, this was revealed to be a troll Teaser; when brightened, the shadowy figure clearly showed the FNF Boyfriend character with Darnell's face and arm.
