Wojtek Bear

Wojtek Bear (1942–1963) was a Syrian brown bear adopted by soldiers of the Polish II Corps during World War II. He became an enlisted Soldier, helping move ammunition crates and providing comfort to his fellow troops, eventually reaching the rank of corporal. After the war, he retired to live as a beloved resident of Edinburgh Zoo.
