The Six Dynasties (220–589 AD) was a tumultuous period of fragmentation and vibrant cultural exchange in ancient China. Following the collapse of the Han Dynasty, it saw the rise and fall of numerous short-lived imperial houses, alongside a flourishing of art, literature, and Buddhism.
